Pool Table Rules:
Pool: is played with a cue ball and 15 coloured balls, 1 black, and 7 of both red and yellow balls (some pool tables may use different colours but its still the same rules). The objective of pub pool is to pot all your colour balls followed by the black ball without potting your opponents balls as they get extra shorts, and without potting the black until all your colour balls are down as when the black is potted that's game over.
Pool Table Size:
The very first thing you need to work out when buying a snooker pool table is the amount of space you have to place your pool table in as this will partly decide on the size of your new pool table. To work out what size pool table you need you will need to work out not only the dimensions of the room it will be placed in but also the intended use of the pub pool table, ie will you be playing for fun with friends and family or will the pool table be for tournament preparation. Pool tables come in four sizes which you can see bellow (the most common snooker pool table sizes are 4x8' and 4 1/2x9') The tables over all size is large then this so please read bellow carefully!

Now that I have all the common pool table sizes which do I need to work with?
You only really need one of these sizes to workout which pool table size is best for you and that's the "Playing surface size". The "outside dimensions" are nice to know but you can workout the overall size you need with just the pool tables surface sizes. The way this is done is by using both the surface size and your cue stick size. All you need to do is measure the pool table size you would like in the middle of your chosen room and walk around it with your cue stick placed at the tip of your measured pool table area.
