The ideal total alkalinity level for swimming pools and spas is 80-150mg/l (ppl). When the total alkalinity level is below 80mg/l (ppm) the pH level can fluctuate widely and the water can be corrosive, leading to damage to pool finish and support equipment. If the alkalinity level of the swimming pool or hot tub goes below 80 mg / litre the pH value of the water can fluctuate wildly and can become very corrosive and this can do extreme damage to the ducting and ancillary equipment of the pool or tub and will be dangerous to any bathers who enter the pool or tub. In order to ensure that the level is always above the recommended level or can be quickly returned to that level the addition of T / A Plus (Total Alkalinity Plus) will quickly rectify the problem and return the pool to good working order.
