Calorex are Europe's leading manufacturer of heat pumps and dehumidifiers. For more than 30 years they have successfully developed heat pumps suitable for hundreds of different applications, and their heat pumps are high efficiency energy saving products superbly engineered for each application.
Heat pumps are by no means a strange invention. Similar in operation to a refrigerator, they absorb energy in the form of heat and moisture from outside air, upgrading this energy to a usable form of heat through the unique ability of their refrigeration circuit.
By careful design Calorex Heat Pumps are capable of providing your pool with up to five units of absorbed heat for every one unit paid for. Even on a cloudy cold day when the temperature may only be 10°C, they will give three units for every one consumed.
All Calorex heat pumps contain a fully sealed non-CFC refrigeration circuit which is specifically designed to operate as a swimming pool heat pump. This means that all components used in their construction are designed to give maximum efficiency at typical swimming pool temperatures. Furthermore, the choice of material and construction will give years of trouble free service.
Choose from two types:-
Ambient Air Defrost- designed for a May- September outdoor pool season and has a minimum operating air temperature of 7 degrees C. A 3 year parts and labour warranty is applicable on this product.
Reverse Cycle Defrost- has a 52 week application for indoors or outdoors, and has a minimum operating air temperature of minus 15 degrees C. A 3 year warranty also applies.
Options include an electrical soft-start and an Energy Management Controller which minimises water pump run time.
How a Heat Pump works:-
A heat pump extracts heat energy from the surrounding air and transfers the heat energy to the water of the swimming pool. It works like a reversed air conditioner, using an evaporator, a compressor, and condenser to heat water instead of cooling air.
Step 1 Capture
The fan circulates air through the outer evaporator air coil that acts as a heat collector and absorbs heat from the ambient air. The liquid refrigerant in the air coil absorbs the available heat in the air transforming it to a gas.
Step 2 Transfer
The compressor then receives the warmed refrigerant and intensifies the heat. The intensely hot refrigerant is then pumped into the heat exchanger (condenser).
Step 3 Heat Exchange
The heat from the hot refrigerant fl owing inside the heat exchanger is then transferred to the pool water, via the surface of the heat exchanger.s coils.
Step 4 The cycle begins again
The refrigerant is then ready to restart the process and flows into the evaporator air coil to collect heat again.
Low running costs
A heat pump will keep your pool water warm 24 hours a day without the need to worry about your energy bills. Due to their high efficiency, heat pumps have low running costs. Heat pumps only require energy to operate a compressor and a fan motor, using low amperage in the process. The Calorex produces up to five times more heat energy than the electrical power it consumes. This means that for every 1kW of electricity consumed, Calorex can produce up to 5 kW of heat. A heat pump will offer you significant operating cost savings versus fossil fuel heaters. They can save you up to 50% over natural gas heaters and over 500% against electrical heaters.
